Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce has sent an email to members of its Frequent Flyer programme apologizing for disruptions on the Australian carrier’s international network that affected hundreds of passengers over Easter. The message stressed that none of the mechanical problems that affected aircraft — in a string of about six incidents in the same week — represented serious safety issues.
Dozens of countries issued travel warnings advising citizens to avoid Thailand following a sudden escalation in violence in Bangkok at the weekend. During the worst violence in the Thai capital in two decades, 21 people were killed and hundreds injured as Thai security forces tried to clear the red shirts, as the protestors are known, away from central Bangkok.

Air France passengers will soon be able to fly nonstop from Paris (CDG) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) or Hanoi (HAN) three times a week. The French carrier signed a codeshare agreement with Vietnam Airlines that comes into effect July 3.
