Security has been stepped up on all flights headed to the United States following the thwarted terrorist attack on the Dec. 25 trans-Atlantic flight as it approached Detroit.
In Asia, airlines and airports appear to be following the directive of the U.S. Transport Security Administration. All passengers travelling on international flights to the United States have been advised by the TSA to allow extra time for security and to arrive at airports an additional hour earlier than usual standards.
InterContinental Hotels Group has opened a mountain resort in Alpensia, South Korea's premier all-year resort, a purpose built, alpine-style village in the Taebaek mountains. Qatar Airways has announced plans to add six new routes in 2010, increasing its global portfolio from 85 to 91 destinations. In Asia Pacific, Qatar Airways plans to launch flights to Bengaluru (BLR), Ankara (ANK) and Tokyo (NRT) over an eight-week period starting February 2010.
