HKIA Expands Terminal 1

Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) has opened a new North Satellite Concourse adding 10 new gates closer to the main terminal buildings. For passengers, the opening of the HKD 1 billion building means more flights will board and disembark via air bridges, and less than 10 flights are located at remote bays compared to the current 40 to 50.

Jetstar, AirAsia In Talks

Qantas has confirmed that its low-cost carrier Jetstar is in talks with Malaysia's AirAsia. In a letter to the Australian Company Announcements Office, Qantas said that its wholly owned subsidiary Jetstar and AirAsia have entered discussions regarding a potential cost-saving joint venture.

China Southern Airlines  has launched a new air express service between its hub in Guangzhou (CAN) and Wuhan (WUH). Fourteen shuttle flights per day will connect the two provincial capitals.

A newly restored 25-room boutique hotel in Kyoto has become Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s second member in Japan. The Hoshinoya Kyoto opened on Dec. 12 in Kyoto's historic Arashiyama district on the banks of the Ooigawa River.
