Does buying carbon credits make it too easy for travellers to stop thinking about the many issues related to climate change? At a time when more individuals and companies are considering using carbon offsets, Responsible Travel, one of the first travel companies to introduce carbon offsets back in 2002 has now removed them, arguing that offsetting distracts from the real issues — that we all need to be reducing all our carbon emissions as much as possible.

Air Canada will launch non-stop flights between Calgary (YYC) and Tokyo (NRT) three times a week from March 2010. Air Canada will operate the new non-stop service with fully refurbished 211-seat Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft offering a choice of economy class and Executive First service featuring 24 lie-flat bed suites.

Etihad Airways will upgrade its in-flight experience when the first of five new Airbus A330-300 aircraft to offer the new Panasonic eX2 system arrive in December. The Panasonic eX2 system will also be fitted on Etihad’s new fleet of Boeing B777 aircraft scheduled for delivery from 2011.
