At the Sept. 22 United Nations climate change summit in New York, the world’s leading airlines told world leaders the aviation industry could halve its carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. The International Air Transport Association presented its proposals to the U.N. Secretary General’s Summit on Climate Change as part of the industry’s build-up to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meeting to be held in Copenhagen in December.
