American companies spent USD 261 billion on business travel in 2008 according to results taken from new wide-ranging study released by the National Business Travel Association and Egencia. The United States accounted for 28 percent of global spending, followed by China at 10 percent and Japan at 8 percent; however, the IHS Global Study predicts that business travel by China and Japan will continue to grow over the next five years and will exceed the U.S. rate.
